What to look for in a waterfront property
Buying a home can be complicated at times. A lot can happen during your real estate transaction.
If you are interested in buying a waterfront property, things can get a little more complex.
Luckily, I found this great article offering 10 tips for buying a waterfront property. I want to share a few highlights with you all today.
First, make sure you find a real estate agent who has experience with waterfront properties. The average agent may not be able to find you the best deal on waterfront properties in your area.
When you do start looking at homes, pay attention to the property more than the structure. How is the swimming? What’s the view like? Does the property fit your lifestyle?
After all, you can change the house, but you can’t change your location.
I also recommend that you look into loans early. Waterfront properties tend to be more expensive, so you may need to be able to qualify for a jumbo loan.
You should also research insurance as soon as possible. Waterfront homeowners in Florida should have a wind policy, a flood policy, and a general hazard policy.
Finally, get to know your responsibilities as a waterfront homeowner. Check out the homeowners association guidelines, or make sure that you are allowed to add a dock or seawall to the property if you want.
If you are interested in buying a waterfront home, I would be happy to help you navigate this process.
