Getting Your Home Ready To Sell
When you’re getting ready to put your home on the market, you want to do everything you can to make sure you get the highest possible sale price. Remodel projects always add resale value, but they can also be costly.
- Fences - I’m sure you’ve heard the old saying, “Good fences make good neighbors,” but they also make for good resale value. Chain-link fences are often passed over by buyers, but a nice wooden fence made of cedar or oak can add some great curb appeal, while having a significantly higher average price than a home without a fence.
- Walk-in Closets - More space equals more dollars. Rooms with large, walk-in closets are highly sought after by buyers. A lot of times, the lack of a “master closet” is a deal killer, and certainly takes away from your home’s value.
- Trees - A recent study by the University of Washington College of the Environment showed that having a mature tree in your yard adds 2% to your property’s value on average, and adds 10-15% in property value in high-income neighborhoods.
