Getting Your Home Ready To Sell

When you’re getting ready to put your home on the market, you want to do everything you can to make sure you get the highest possible sale price. Remodel projects always add resale value, but they can also be costly.

What you may not know is that there are already things about your home that will increase its price tag. Today we’re sharing an article with you that we found on Trulia, titled “13 Surprising Extras That Add Value to Homes.”
The extras range from stainless steel appliances to smart technology, and you can read them all in the full article here.
Because we know your time is valuable, we just wanted to share with you a few of the items from the list that stand out to us in case you don’t have time to read the full article. Here they are:
  • Fences - I’m sure you’ve heard the old saying, “Good fences make good neighbors,” but they also make for good resale value. Chain-link fences are often passed over by buyers, but a nice wooden fence made of cedar or oak can add some great curb appeal, while having a significantly higher average price than a home without a fence.
  • Walk-in Closets - More space equals more dollars. Rooms with large, walk-in closets are highly sought after by buyers. A lot of times, the lack of a “master closet” is a deal killer, and certainly takes away from your home’s value.
  • Trees - A recent study by the University of Washington College of the Environment showed that having a mature tree in your yard adds 2% to your property’s value on average, and adds 10-15% in property value in high-income neighborhoods.
